Help save the Dugong

The habitat of the last of the Japanese Dugongs are being threatened!

Large slabs of concrete are being dumped in Henoko Bay, near Okinawa in Japan, ruining the sensitive coral reef. The artificial slabs are the first step in the building of a new American Naval base.

There are only labout 50 of these culturally significant marine mammals left in Japan. The IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) has red listed the species as critically endangered and the Japanes Ministry of Environment has also listed them as severely threatened.

The people in Okinawa as well as the local authorities has taken legal action to stop the expansion of the Navy base.

You can help save the dugong by making the American ambassadeur Caroline Kennedy,who has the power to stop the building, take not and save the dugong habitat.
